Day Habilitation Services

Our Supported Community Connections provide training, support and / or supervision to maximize the abilities and skills that will lead to greater independence and interdependence in the community at large. While exposing people to a variety of environments establishing opportunities to develop natural supports.

Our Artist in Residence, Lateefah Wright, also heads up artistic projects and endeavors with all who wish to participate.

We hope to be able to eventually gain an MK Legacy Artist Studio Space, but until then, most all of our ASWs "Art Work Shops" are loosely planned according to Lateefah’s ability to attain an available workspace. Lateefah brings supplies of our client's choosing into places such as Red Robin, Taco Bell, city parks, pool halls, malls, bookshops, open halls and even rooftops where we draw, sketch, colour and create together. Most everyone gains enthusiasm off of eachother's talents, and even those who insist that they cannot draw take a sketch or new project home, created whilst conversing and hanging out over Sharpies, sketchpads and card stock.  Some days we are able to advance reserve 21C Library's MakeSpace and while there we have plenty of tables and a sink for water, so we are able to get more intensive with oil, acrylic and water colour painting on canvas, ceramic sculpting, glaze formulation, fabric printing, and comprehensive charcoal drawing. The goal is to form everyone's emerging talents by doing and trying as many different mediums as desired. Whilst limited at the moment, once we have a space in which the artists can let materials, pieces and projects dry, cure and be studied upon, the potential is absolutely limitless. Many artist are already planning to submit their work into future local art shows and competitions! We are wildly excited to see what the future brings!
